Tax Reviewer, Seasonal Part-time

Portland, OR/Hybrid/Remote

We are seeking a part-time, seasonal Tax Reviewer to assist with individual tax returns from February 1st- April 15th, 2025. This role can be remote, hybrid, or on-site in our Portland, OR office and requires 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment during the peak of tax season. This role focuses on reviewing outsourced tax returns and preparing them for minimal additional work before finalization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Review individual federal and state tax returns for accuracy and update returns with necessary changes using tax software.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure returns meet firm standards before final delivery to clients.
• Work independently to manage multiple returns at various stages of completion, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines.
• Adhere to the core values and standards of Geffen Mesher, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

What makes you a fit

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a similar discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting, specifically reviewing federal and state individual tax returns.
• Experience with CCH Axcess Tax is required.
• Experience with SurePrep is preferred but not required; having SurePrep experience would be a significant plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal management and staff.
• Commitment to maintaining client and employee confidentiality.
