Job Description Position Description: Lawsonia Upstream Technician, Operations The Technician, Operations position is available at our Company Animal Health facility in De Soto, Kansas, located near Kansas City metropolitan area.-The DeSoto facility is expanding operations to manufacturing vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals.-Leveraging an experienced and innovative team environment, the key technologies at the site are biologics production using fermentation and cell culture platforms, filling and packaging.
Additional Responsibilities - Working within the Cell Culture team you take ownership of the manufacturing processes associated with the large scale manufacturing as well as new products coming into the department and be expected to contribute to the weekly completion and schedule adherence of other production activities within the team - The antigen manufacturing operation is made up of teams that carry out the production activities for the preparation and sterilization of equipment, preparation and sterilization of media components, fermentation of bacterial antigens, downstream processing of bacterial antigens and serial batching of antigens to blend the final vaccines prior to sterile filling
- End to end production of key antigens manufactured at the De Soto site that are then used in the formulation of final vaccines
- Fermentation activities from breakout to large scale fermentation, clean down, set up and operation of vessels and equipment and contribution to the site safety and continuous improvement activities
- Demonstrate effective attention to detail and achieve a consistent error-free execution of daily job assignments, be able to complete documentation using Good Documentation Practices and be able to identify opportunities for process improvement and employ basic problem-solving skills
Schedule Requirements - Monday to Friday 7:00 AM-3:30 PM standard shift time, occasional overtime or adjustments to shift times.
Position Qualifications: Education Minimum Requirement: - High School diploma or equivalent required
- Two years applicable industry work; degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology or similar preferred
Required Experience and Skills: - Principled verbal and written communications
- Basic skills in effective time management to meet given deadlines
- Complete basic laboratory procedures
- Work effectively with team members and show initiative to assist others on the team
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Experience and Skills: - Working in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environment
- Using large scale filtration and separation techniques
- Knowledge of aseptic processes used in manufacturing
- Quality improvement tools and continuous improvement processes and site quality metrics
- Manufacturing Directions, Standard Operating Procedures, Company/Corporate/Regulatory Policies
