The Ideal Candidate The Junior Product Owner for the Retail & Information Technology Services (RITS) team collaborates closely with stakeholders to gather product requirements, define acceptance criteria, and maintain a prioritized backlog. Success in this role relies on leveraging functional knowledge of Retail ERP systems and a commitment to continuous learning to maximize product value for stakeholders. With a strong customer-focused mindset, the Junior Product Owner ensures that business needs align with appropriate solutions, while proactively seeking opportunities for self-development to enhance their impact on the RITS team and the business.
How You Will Make an Impact - Coordinate with businesses to prioritize defects and enhancements, communicating their value with RITS system managers and other teams.
- Track and communicate the product's overall vision, roadmap objectives, and goals to both functional and technical team members.
- Advocate for using existing product features to address business needs and maximize value.
- Create and validate acceptance criteria with the team, ensuring sign-off when work is complete.
- Coordinate the technical design of new features and software with Application Development and related systems.
- Partner with other IT areas (e.g., PMO, Infrastructure, Helpdesk) and external vendors for product-related efforts.
- Gather feedback and functional requirements through interviews, surveys, and observations.
- Conduct use-case analyses to identify process optimization opportunities.
- Draft and assess process flows, logical data models, and entity relationship diagrams as necessary.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with relevant stakeholders (e.g., users, QA, RITS).
- Provide functional support to development teams and other areas to address day-to-day needs.
- Act as a liaison between business users and RITS development teams, developing SME-level knowledge of the Retail ERP.
- Apply new skills and best practices from Product Owners and external training to enhance efficiency in RITS team deliverables.
- Facilitate and oversee the consolidation of the RITS team's work input streams in alignment with IT Governance.
- Collaborate with RITS team leadership to incorporate Agile principles as appropriate.
- Maintain relationships with ERP vendors to stay updated on the product roadmap and keep the RITS team and users informed of system capabilities.
- Lead regular stakeholder meetings to update users and the RITS team on ongoing efforts and system-related issues.
- Perform other duties in support of RITS initiatives as needed.
Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have - 3+ years functional experience in product domain (Retail ERP) is required.
- Proven track record of making data-driven, fact-based decisions.
- Ability to gather and parse the opinions of multiple stakeholders.
- A true passion for retail technology and IT as a service.
- Ability to resolve conflicts independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of assigned products.
- Drive to learn Agile principles & help incorporate where appropriate in conjunction with development team leadership.
- Prior experience documenting requirements and/or use cases using collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Lucid Charts.
