Job Title: Instructional Coach- Humanities

Supervisor: Lower-Middle School Principal

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: Monday through Friday; LMS 8:00am-4:45pm, Duration: 12 months

Description: The Instructional Coach serves as an instructional leader, working and communicating on an ongoing basis with the Chief Academic Officer, Principal, faculty and staff, students, parents, and community partners. In addition, attend leadership and board meetings as directed.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Curriculum - Ensures that all teachers design/implement effective and rigorous standards-based units of instruction grounded in high quality instructional materials, consisting of well-structured lessons with measurable outcomes.

  • Instruction - Ensures that instructional practices in all settings reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work, engage all students, and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness. Supports educators with high quality lesson planning.

  • Assessment - Ensures that all teachers use a variety of formal and informal methods and assessments to measure student learning, growth, and understanding and make necessary adjustments to their practice through data-inquiry cycles.

  • Coaching - Provides effective and timely coaching support to educators. Provide additional support to teachers new to Codman or new to teaching.

  • Data-Informed Decision Making - Uses multiple sources of evidence related to student learning, including state, district, and school assessment results and growth data, to inform school and district goals and improve organizational performance, educator effectiveness, and student learning.

  • In conjunction with the Instructional Leadership Team:

  • Contributes to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Strategic

Improvement Plan (SIP)

  • Collaboratively designs and implements an arc of adult learning including weekly professional development and collaborative planning meetings in alignment with the priorities and desired outcomes of the SIP

  • Develops and monitors the implementation of cohesive, standards-aligned curriculum

maps for each grade level in alignment with the District Curriculum and Accommodation

plan (DCAP)

  • Contributes to the management of the school-wide assessment system (e.g. portfolio,

MCAS, DIBELS, interim assessments, PowerSchool) including progress monitoring data

  • Inventories curriculum materials and resources and works with the Director of Operations

to ensure all educators have appropriate materials to implement HQIM

  • Coordinates academic volunteers/interns

  • Manages school/class schedule in collaboration with the principal

  • Contributes to the hiring process for teachers

  • Oversee summer school planning and execution as needed

  • Collaborates with EL Education School Designer

  • a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred

  • at least 5 years of relevant experience
