Description Environmental Professionals - Entry Level to Project Management Western Technologies, a proud affiliate of the nationwide network of the RMA Companies, seeks highly motivated environmental professionals for full-time positions as an Environmental Scientist I and II and Environmental Project Manager in our Flagstaff and Phoenix, Arizona locations. You will join a dedicated team of like-minded professionals supporting the needs of private-sector and government clientele to address and remedy environmental impacts in the natural world and the built environment. Project opportunities will take you across Arizona with the chance to join project teams in the Pacific Northwest, California, the Greater Southwestern United States and the East Coast. Your participation will blend project-specific travel with remote interactions to resolve the challenges and needs of our clients to improve the environment.
Typical work practices will encompass fieldwork and technical report writing. Project management positions add growth-oriented and business development tasks like communicating with clients, developing project approaches and budgets, selecting team participants, including sub-contractors, and providing guidance and direction to peers while mentoring staff.
Typical Contributions you will make: - Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, and other due diligence-related activities.
- Asbestos inspections, operations and maintenance plans, abatement design and oversight.
- Lead paint surveys to identify lead hazards in living spaces and the workplace and recommend hazard mitigation.
- NEPA level environmental reviews and assessments of proposed housing, transportation, and other government-funded actions to address potential impacts to social, economic, historical, and biological factors.
- Personnel and ambient air monitoring to address indoor air quality and occupational exposure hazards to chemicals and physical risks.
- Sampling to evaluate soil vapor, soil and groundwater impacts.
- Collection of hydrogeological data to evaluate groundwater.
- Facility audits to determine the applicability of regulatory programs like hazardous waste management, air emissions resources, spill containment control countermeasures, and underground storage tank management and corrective actions.
- Management and field oversight of subcontractors, sub-consultants, vendors, and laboratories.
Job Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field of study.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- State and Federal licenses and certifications for asbestos and lead-based paint.
- Ability to self-direct your work with minimum supervision.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions in protective clothing.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Experience with Regulatory Programs: - SPCC and SWPPP under the Clean Water Act.
- NEPA reviews under HUD, DOT, BIA, FWS, and other federal, state, or local government agencies.
- USTs under RCRA.
- Hazardous waste under RCRA.
- State-specific environmental program experience a plus.
