Ina A. Colen Academy is a tuition-free public charter school of choice located in the Calesa Township Community in Marion County, Florida. Founded in 2020, Ina A. Colen Academy serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Along with the school’s mission to cultivate passionate learners in an inclusive school community in which individuality and empathy for other through collaboration and active learning, its passionate team of teachers has contributed to the achievement of a Grade “A” for two academic years in a row!

The Ina A. Colen Academy is seeking dedicated Elementary and Middle School Teachers who are passionate about education and committed to helping students succeed. Ideal candidates who are professional educators, possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders and are dedicated to making a positive impact on school youth.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards by using effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote active learning. Utilize technology and other resources to enhance instruction.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students through use of oral and written language for expectations, directions, procedures, and explanations of content and engaging students in learning through creative activities, assignments, grouping of students and use of instructional materials and resources, structure and pacing.
• Use Assessment in Instruction: Assessment Criteria, Monitoring of Student Learning, Feedback to Students, Student Self-Assessment and Monitoring of Progress to provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
• Communicate with students through use questioning and discussion techniques such as quality questions, engaging discussion techniques, and ensuring Student Participation.
• Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness: lesson adjustment, response to students, and persistence. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field
• Proven experience working with students in an educational setting
• Ability to pass an extensive background screening process
• Strong knowledge of English Language Arts curriculum and instructional techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Work Location: In person
• Preferences: 4 years of teaching experience.
