Description of Job General Statement Of Duties Develops educational material and curriculum utilizing current educational practices to present and facilitate educational programs for Colorado Judicial Branch employees.
Distinguishing Factors The Education Specialist classification is distinguished from the Training Administrator classification by the stronger emphasis on training and facilitating courses. The Education Specialist will not have responsibility for policy development for the unit.
Essential Functions Of the Position Coordinates with court and probation managers, supervisors, and employees in the design and development of training curriculum and course material.
May chair committees in charge of developing training courses.
Assists in planning and organizing retreats and cooperative training events including securing training location, lodging, materials, and trainers.
Collects evaluations at the closing of training, compiles results and provides reports on training effectiveness. Identifies trends in training evaluations and makes recommendations.
Provides training and presentations and facilitates discussions in a learning format independently or as a co-trainer/facilitator.
Adjusts training to fit participant needs.
Communicates effectively with probation and court staff, other governmental agencies, private contractors, and the public.
Creates reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials in a timely manner.
Remains current with training concepts, trends, and technology.
Attends meetings and training as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities No formal supervisory responsibility. Responsibility for one's own work product and work within a unit performing similar functions. Rarely provides lead function, advice, or explains work instructions to other employees or volunteers.
Additional Comments This position is in the Division of Probation Services (DPS) and will primarily serve Probation staff across the, soon to be, 23 Judicial Districts and 70 Probation offices throughout Colorado. The position includes administrative, instructional design, and learning facilitation responsibilities. Other responsibilities may include committee work, technical assistance, and general support for district staff and outside facilitators.
The Division of Probation Services (DPS) office is located in Denver at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center. Some job responsibilities will require work in the office and in the judicial districts throughout the state. The DPS operates from a flexible workplace arrangement policy where both remote and in-person work are utilized on an individual basis.
The anticipated hiring timeline for this position is as follows, and is subject to change:
Video Interview/Screening - Week of September 30th
Written Exercise - Due Friday, October 11th
First Panel Interview - Monday, October 21st
Training Exercise - Wednesday, October 30th
Second Interview - Monday, November 4th
If selected to move forward from the Video Interview/Screening, you will be provided the specific details to prepare for the written and training exercises. All interviews will be in-person with a virtual option if necessary. At least one interview or hiring event must be attended in person (First Panel Interview, Training Exercise, and Second Interview).
The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $76,101 - $110,346.00. The salary that is offered will be calculated on the candidate's relevant years of experience for this particular position.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once. The employee must cooperatively operate in a team environment or independently as required. The noise level is usually moderate.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university and three years of training or comparable work experience.
