Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and interact with children of various ages, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement in age-appropriate activities
Establish positive relationships with children, parents, and guardians, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
Plan and implement educational and recreational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development
Assist children with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene routines, while promoting independence and self-help skills
Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of play areas, toys, and equipment per Arapaho Health Department guidelines.
Observe and document children's behavior, progress, and any concerns or incidents, and communicate them to appropriate staff and parents
Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to create a cohesive and effective team environment
Adhere to all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, including those related to child protection and health and safety
Provide guidance and support to children in managing conflict, problem-solving, and developing positive social skills
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in childcare
Complete all documentation set out by Primary Program Manager (This includes filling out daily/nightly paperwork and behavior logs via surface pro/google docs)
Complete monthly trainings set out by Primary Program Manager
Work Hours and Benefits:
The Youth Care Worker position has part-time and full-time positions available with a varied work schedule. Reflections operates seven days a week, and work hours will vary depending on the needs of the center. Training and Education:
Previous experience working with children in a childcare or similar setting is preferred but not required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
Patience, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional support to children as they navigate various developmental stages
Ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in challenging situations and handle emergencies appropriately
Basic knowledge of child development principles, positive discipline techniques, and age-appropriate activities
Understanding of health and safety regulations related to childcare, including first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Ability to pass a background check and meet any other requirements set forth by the childcare center
Training or Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement for this position. Additional certifications or coursework in early childhood education, child development, or related fields are highly valued. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities may be provided to enhance your skills and knowledge in childcare practices and regulations. In addition, QMAP certifications will be provided for youth that require med management.
