About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Computer Science within its College of Engineering. The successful candidate will be a tenured faculty member at the rank of full professor, with a strong commitment to research, service, and teaching. The Chair will be responsible for providing leadership to the departmental faculty, championing student success, managing fiscal resources, and promoting inclusive excellence. This role involves overseeing the Department's academic and research programs, faculty recruitment, and mentorship, as well as strengthening the Department's research profile and visibility. The ideal candidate will have a robust research agenda, a history of external funding, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates for the Chair position should have a doctoral degree in a discipline related to the computer science curriculum, with a focus on areas such as data science, AI, software engineering, and cybersecurity. Essential qualifications include a strong record of teaching, junior faculty mentoring, and administrative experience in managing personnel, finances, and strategic growth. The Chair must possess excellent communication and people skills, a strong work ethic, and a proven track record of interdisciplinary collaboration. Recent experience in academic leadership and a history of transparent decision-making, shared governance, and a culture of consensus and collaboration are also important. The role is a 12-month appointment, and the Chair is expected to teach one course each semester.
