Job Title: Blood Bank SupervisorJob Description The Blood Bank Supervisor is responsible for overseeing activities in the Pre-Analytic, Analytic, and Post-Analytic phases of the Laboratory Path of Workflow. This includes providing technical and scientific oversight, supervising staff, and managing the daily operations of the designated laboratory section(s). The supervisor ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards, and in compliance with criteria mandated by the appropriate accrediting and licensing agencies. Responsibilities Monitoring tests and ensuring quality control (QC) compliance. Training staff and evaluating their performance and competency. Ensuring adherence to CLIA standards for high complexity general supervisors as outlined in 42CFR493.1463. Maintaining the integrity and efficiency of laboratory operations, ensuring high standards of accuracy and reliability in all laboratory processes. Essential Skills ASCP certification Experience with CLIA standards Expertise in blood banking Knowledge of blood typing Understanding of medical terminology Proficiency in microbiology and chemistry Experience with blood samples and blood specimen storage Familiarity with blood bank information systems Additional Skills & Qualifications Ideally 4+ years of hands-on experience in blood banking Work Environment The work environment is a CLIA lab with fully outfitted stations for chemistry, biology, pathology, and diagnostics. The blood bank is brand new in practice and model, and the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and software. The lab is known for a great culture of collaboration and growth for all professionals, offering opportunities to start as a supervisor and grow within a rapidly expanding hospital lab. The lab is under new leadership and is part of a campus with a new medical school, contributing to its record number of specimen blood draws in the state of Maryland. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $49.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
